Noriker

The Noriker is a traditional Alpine draft horse breed originating from Austria and the surrounding Alpine regions. Historically used for farm work, transport, forestry and mountain hauling, the Noriker is known for its strength, endurance, calm temperament and remarkable surefootedness in difficult terrain.
The breed is especially recognized for its wide variety of accepted coat colors and patterns, including leopard spotting and other Appaloosa-related patterns that are uncommon in most European draft breeds. Compared to some heavier draft horses, the Noriker combines substantial bone and pulling power with agility and versatility suited for mountainous environments.
