Irish Draught

The Irish Draught is a traditional Irish horse breed developed as a versatile farm, riding, and working horse. Originating in Ireland, the breed was bred to combine the strength and substance of draft horses with the athleticism and stamina needed for riding and hunting work.
Compared to heavier draft breeds, the Irish Draught is more refined and athletic while still maintaining strong bone, durability and a calm temperament. The breed became especially influential in modern sport horse breeding and is widely used to produce Irish Sport Horses for disciplines such as eventing and show jumping.
